Is the higher SPF the best one?
The difference between SPF 15, SPF 30 and SPF 50 is 93% vs 97% vs 98% UVB protection. That’s why EltaMD® sunscreens are 30+. Regardless of the SPF, it is still recommended that you reapply every 2-4 hours.
What is the difference between mineral and chemical suncreen?
Mineral or physical sunscreens have minerals like zinc, titanium or iron oxide as their active ingredient. They deflect and scatter UV preventing skin penetration. They are more gentle than chemical sunscreens whose active ingredients include avobenzone, octinoxate. These chemicals work by absorbing UV radiation and converts it into heat, which is then released from the skin.
